Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study was to determine the Character of Student Tolerance in Natural Sciences at SMPN 3 Muaro Jambi based on Indicators of Caring, Ignorance, Mutual Respect for each other, and Respect for the differences of others


Methodology: This type of research uses quantitative research that uses the research design is survey research using a questionnaire instrument. The number of samples used in this study amounted to 226 students from Muaro Jambi 3 Public Middle School


Main Findings: The results obtained based on the Care indicator shows the percentage results of 45.6% with good category and 38.9% of very good category. In the indicator of respecting differences in other people, the percentage is 47.3% in the good category and 32.7% in the very good category. the indicator of ignorance with percentage is 51.8% in the good category and 14.6% is very good. Furthermore, the indicators respect the differences of others with a percentage of 35.8% in the excellent category and 34.5% in the good category.


Applications of this study: This research can be useful for researchers as material review in other studies. this research will be useful for SMPN 3 muaro jambi as an evaluation in seeing the tolerance character of students


Novelty/Originality of this study: The renewal of this study is found in the indicators used. Where researchers want to see the indicators used based on the aspect of tolerance itself whether students in SMP 3 Muaro Jambi have a very good, good, enough, not good, and not very good category
